How We Got Here

The Pioneros were founded in December 2018  by the Huerata Family from Queretaro, Mexico. Joining as one of the charter members of Fútbol Americano de México (FAM), a professional American football league in Mexico. With the community and support of the fans and players we ended up winning the Championship the first year under the guidance of Mexican Head Coach Rassielh López

In our first season, Pioneros won the FAM championship (Mexico) after defeating the Centauros de Ciudad Juárez 16–0. After the great victory and first season, the directors of the team decided to join the LFA, another Mexico football league.

For the 2020 season, Pioneros signed several players, including American quarterback Ryan Pahos. In our LFA debut game, Pioneros lost against the 2019 champion, Condors, 29-7.

The 2020 and 2021 seasons were mostly canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

In 2021, the LFA and the Pioneros Querétaro parted ways,

Later, the Pioneros returned to the FAM for the 2022 season. The FAM shut down league operations in September 2022 due to financial struggles. The ownership group met and started discussions on how to move the team to Dallas, Texas and to become the first ever Mexico professional football team to move from Mexico to the United States. The was accomplished late calendar year of 2023 and the ownership met with Coach Art Briles in Dallas, Texas, and offered him the Head Coaching position of the Pioneros Dallas team and he accepted.
